Hemmige V. Srivatsan - The Vocalist

Hemmige Varadarajan Srivatsan is widely regarded as the protege' and prime male disciple of renowned vocalist Sangeetha Kalanidhi Prof. Palghat K.V. Narayanaswamy.
Srivatsan was introduced to music at an early age by his parents, Shantha and Hemmige D. Varadarajan. Expressing a keen desire to play the violin, he underwent rigorous training with Prof. Anoor S. Ramakrishna, Principal of the Ayyanar Music College in Bangalore. As a violinist, Srivatsan has accompanied many leading vidwans in Chennai & abroad.
In 1984 Srivatsan had the unique opportunity of accompanying Prof. K.V. Narayanaswamy in a series of concerts in the U.S. and Canada. Since then, Srivatsan has been a disciple of Prof. KVN, learning the art of singing from him aswell.
Srivatsan has performed at prestigious venues in Chennai and has received critical acclaim as an exponent of the Ariyakudi and KVN tradition. Srivatsan’s singing is noted for its classical purity and emotive appeal. As The Hindu wrote, “…a musician endowed with a rich saareeram [voice] which is soaked in melody…”
Srivatsan is a hardware engineer, residing with his family in San Jose, California.
